Google Talk Account Settings

This feature is provided as part of one or more Reference Designs.

Google talk can be configured with the options:

• Server: Server to connect to, which defaults to talk.google.com

• Port: Port to use for connection, defaults to 5223

• Username: Full user login name of account, i.e. user@gmail.com

• Password: Password for authentication

• Auto register: Enable automatic login on start up

The application also provides advanced settings.

• Use Encryption

• Ignore SSL Errors

• Use Old Style SSL

GoogleTalk Jabber Integration

GoogleTalk uses a form of Jabber and provides instant messaging, presence and VoIP calls. This integration allows Qt Extended to utilize that functionality, via Telepathy, inline with existing applications and minor user interface modifications.

Telepathy Integration

Telepathy is a project that aims to provide a unified communications framework based on D-Bus.

Telepathy thus brings the following capabilities to Qt Extended:

• XMPP Integration using libjingle or gabble
• IM and Presence capabilities from libjingle or gabble
• RTP streaming capabilities using gStreamer

These capabilities are demonstrated in the relevant applications.

XMPP Based Instant Messaging

Instant Messaging is supported via Telepathy. Subscribed contacts are those the user has previously approved the addition of, or have added and been approved by the remote party.

• presence status of a subscribed contact can be retrieved and shown
• messages can be sent to subscribed remote users
• messages can be received from subscribed remote users
• multiple concurrent sessions on different platforms can be handled - the user is not logged out of another device when logging into the target device
